Ram Navami or the ninth day of the bright fortnight of the Hindu Lunar month of Chaitra is the best day to perform this puja as it is the day when Lord Ram was born. Otherwise, throughout the year the auspicious Navami tithi of any Hindu Lunar month can be chosen to perform this puja.
Devotees observe fasts, chant mantras, and offer prayers to Lord Rama. Special puja is also performed in temples dedicated to Lord Rama, and there are processions of devotees carrying statues and images of Lord Rama.
If pooja is performed at home then the home is cleaned properly and pictures of Lord Rama, Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman are put on a dais in preparation for the puja.
All the members of the family worship the deities on his birthday. Devotees offer flowers, sweets, and incense sticks in order to please Lord Rama
